DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

IT’S NOT JUST
WHERE IT HURTS.

  • →Unclear when you're actually ready to return—guidelines say 6 weeks, but your knee still feels unstable during lateral cuts
  • →Generic PT doesn't address the specific demands of your position, sport volume, or season timing
  • →Recurring injuries from the same weakness that caused the first one, because the root problem was never addressed
YOUR PLAN, NOT A TEMPLATE

A CLEARER WAY FORWARD.

Sports rehabilitation at TheraRehab & Wellness follows PAIN → PRIME → PERFORM → PREVENT. We start with sport-specific baseline testing to measure exactly where you are, progress through evidence-based loading phases that restore range, build strength, and reintroduce actual sport demands, then use objective return criteria—not the calendar—to confirm readiness. You leave with the corrective work and strength plan that keeps the same injury from finding you again next season.

01

Sport-Specific Baseline Testing

Movement screens and performance tests establish objective targets relative to your sport and position—limb symmetry, power output, movement quality. This gives you and your therapist clear data, not subjective feelings, to track against.

02

Progressive Loading Phases

Treatment advances through restore, strengthen, power, and sport-demand phases. You regain range of motion, build foundational strength, develop sport-specific power and coordination, then reintroduce the actual training volume and movement patterns of your sport.

03

Objective Return-to-Play Criteria

You return to full activity when you pass performance tests—not when a predetermined number of weeks has passed. Objective data, combined with movement quality assessment, gives you real confidence to compete.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU START.

How long does sports rehab typically take?+

Timelines are individual and depend on injury severity, post-surgical repair, your training volume, and when your season starts. We measure progress through objective tests at your initial three visits; if measurable progress is not seen, we adjust the plan or connect you to another provider. Return happens when you pass performance criteria, not on a calendar.

What sports does TheraRehab work with?+

We work with runners, golfers, pickleball and tennis players, team sport athletes, weightlifters, and weekend warriors. The principles are the same: baseline testing, progressive loading, and objective return criteria tailored to your specific sport and position.

Do I need a physician referral to start?+

Texas direct access allows you to begin physical therapy without a referral. If you have insurance, we'll verify your benefits and handle any pre-authorization requirements.

What if I've had surgery—can I still do sports rehab?+

Yes. We work with post-surgical athletes from day one of clearance. Progressive loading phases respect tissue healing timelines while building strength and sport-specific movement quality. Your surgeon's restrictions guide our protocol; we communicate with their office as needed.

More about Sports Rehabilitation in Dallas, TX

Rehab designed around how you actually move.

Sports rehabilitation at TheraRehab & Wellness is not standard physical therapy with a sports label. It is a performance-focused process that starts with sport-specific baseline testing, builds through progressive loading stages, and ends only when objective criteria confirm readiness, not when the calendar says so.

We work with weekend warriors, high school and collegiate competitors, adult league players, and people who simply refuse to give up the thing they love doing. The principles are the same. The plan is built around your sport, your position, your training volume, and what your season actually looks like.

Any athlete dealing with injury or post-surgical recovery.

From recreational runners to competitive team sport athletes, sports rehab provides the structured, evidence-based pathway back to full participation.

A standards-based return, not a guess.

Baseline Testing

We begin with sport-specific movement screens and performance tests to establish where you are relative to where you need to be. This gives us clear, objective targets, not subjective feelings.

Progressive Loading

Treatment progresses through phases: restore range of motion, build foundational strength, develop sport-specific power and coordination, then reintroduce the actual demands of your sport.

Return Criteria

You return to full activity when you pass objective tests: limb symmetry, power output, movement quality, not just when a predetermined number of weeks has passed.

Back to full competition, with lower re-injury risk.

Being cleared by the calendar tells you how long it has been. Being cleared by a test tells you what your body can do. We use the second one.

Return to practice, competition, and training at the same or higher level than before injury.

Objective data, not just how you feel, confirms your readiness and gives you real confidence to compete.

The weakness that let the injury happen gets addressed too, so you often finish stronger on the same tests you started on.

You leave with the strength work and the movement corrections that keep the same injury from finding you again next season.

Services we integrate into sports rehab programs.

Physical Therapy

Foundation of the sports rehab program: movement analysis, manual work, and corrective exercise.

Dry Needling

Trigger point release to address muscular guarding and tension that limits strength recovery and movement quality.

Manual Therapy

Joint mobilization to restore normal mechanics and tissue extensibility during the recovery phases.
