Dr. Kevin Mathew

PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

I was born and raised in Garden Grove, California, and moved to Texas at the age of 11. I attended Plano East Senior High School, completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Texas, and earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. My professional journey began with a travel therapy position in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, followed by a return to Texas where I served as a Clinic Manager at a worker’s compensation clinic. I later had the opportunity to launch a new clinic from the ground up with Vista Physical Therapy, operating within an LA Fitness facility, where I worked for two years. In addition to my clinic work, I’ve consistently maintained a home health caseload, treating a diverse population of both adults and children.

I’m also a published author of 13 Paths to Understanding: A Guide to Physical Therapy for the Autistic Individual, a book inspired by my personal journey alongside my autistic brother. The book reflects both my lived experiences and insights gained from collaborating with organizations dedicated to supporting neurodiverse individuals. I am also dry needling certified, and have taken courses on manual therapy and spinal manipulation. I am a certified pain free performance specialist as well.

Core Values:

  • Compassion, rooted in my relationship with my brother.

  • Growth, evident in my willingness to move, adapt, take on leadership roles, and launch a clinic from scratch.

  • Integrity, I try my best to show up professionally each day and take pride in doing meaningful work that helps others live better lives.

  • Curiosity, as I always seek out knowledge, from gaining the formal education and then independent research for my book. I’m always looking to do and learn more.

Favorite Quote:

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate… to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. ” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am a Physical Therapist, and I pride myself on specializing in making rehab personal, effective, and something patients can actually enjoy showing up for. A lot of patients feel like they’re just a number. I want to change that by giving people care that actually feels personal, where they’re listened to, understood, and treated like a human, not a chart. I enjoy treating low back pain, ankle sprains, post-op rotator cuff.

What I love about working at TheraRehab & Wellness as it seems like a very patient centered place. Focused on growth and getting people better.
