Elbow, Wrist and Hand Pain Dallas

Your arm works as a chain. When the shoulder blade is weak, the small tissues at the end pay the price. We treat the whole chain, not just the sore spot.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

IT’S NOT JUST
WHERE IT HURTS.

  • →Tennis elbow or golfer's elbow that flares up when you grip, lift a coffee cup, or turn a doorknob—and comes back after rest because rest doesn't fix what caused it.
  • →Numb fingers at night or while driving, lost grip strength mid-task, or a jar lid that won't budge—nerve pressure or tendon fatigue that bracing alone won't solve.
  • →Shoulder blade weakness or neck stiffness forcing your wrist and hand to absorb loads they were never meant to carry, leaving you unsure if you can trust your arm.
YOUR PLAN, NOT A TEMPLATE

A CLEARER WAY FORWARD.

We start where it hurts and keep going. The evaluation includes grip strength, wrist and forearm motion, tendon behavior under load, nerve tension testing, and the shoulder blade and neck mechanics feeding your whole arm. Then we move through a three-phase plan: settle the irritation, load the tissue on purpose, and return you to grip, lift, and type with confidence.

01

PAIN: Settle the Irritation

We calm the irritated tendon or nerve and adjust the specific daily loads keeping it angry. Manual therapy, dry needling, or shockwave therapy settles irritation first. Motion work begins now, not weeks from now.

02

PRIME: Load the Tissue on Purpose

Progressive strengthening for the tendon, forearm, and grip, plus shoulder blade and neck work that stops the far end of your arm from absorbing everything. Tendons heal by being loaded correctly and progressively, not by resting.

03

PERFORM & PREVENT: Return to Your Life

We build capacity past what your day asks for: a full workday, a heavy carry, a racket, a tool, a keyboard. You leave knowing how to keep the load shared and how to stay pain-free.

THE THERAREHAB DIFFERENCE

CARE THAT
SEES YOU.

We assess the whole chain—shoulder blade, neck, elbow, wrist, and hand—because pain at the end of your arm often starts upstream months earlier.

One-on-one care from a Doctor of Physical Therapy who knows your history, explains what's actually driving the problem, and modifies your training instead of telling you to stop.

A written plan after your first visit and a reassessment or plan adjustment after three visits if measurable progress is not seen—the Clarity & Progress Promise.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU START.

Do I need a referral to start?+

No. Texas allows direct access to physical therapy for up to 30 days without a physician referral. In most cases we can see you within the same week.

Why does my tennis elbow keep coming back after rest?+

Rest lowers the load on the tendon but doesn't change what caused the problem—often weak shoulder blade mechanics or poor load sharing through your arm. We address both the irritation and the upstream movement pattern.

What if my fingers go numb at night or while driving?+

Numbness usually means a nerve is under pressure somewhere along your arm. We test nerve tension, identify where the pressure sits, and address the movement or posture keeping it compressed.

How long before I can grip, lift, and type normally again?+

Timelines are individual and depend on how long the problem has been there, how much irritation is present, and how well you tolerate loading. We reassess after three visits and adjust the plan if progress isn't clear.

More about Elbow, Wrist and Hand Pain Dallas

The hand pays for what the shoulder is not doing.

Your arm works as a chain. The neck and shoulder blade set the position, the shoulder and elbow carry the load, and the wrist and hand do the fine work at the end of it. When the shoulder blade is weak or the neck is stiff, the small tissues at the far end absorb the difference. That is why tennis elbow so often appears in people whose shoulder mechanics changed months earlier, and why wrist pain frequently settles once the load is shared properly again.

The tissues down here are small and they are used constantly, which is a poor combination for healing. Tendons at the elbow, the nerve tunnel at the wrist, and the joints of the thumb and fingers rarely get a real rest day. Bracing and time off help for a while, then the pain comes back, because rest lowers the load without changing what caused it.

Where it hurts tells us what is involved.

The location of the pain, the movement that provokes it, and whether a nerve is involved decide the treatment. These are the patterns we see most.

Pain over the outside of the elbow when gripping, lifting a coffee cup, or turning a doorknob. Often called tennis elbow.

Pain on the inside of the elbow with gripping, throwing, or repeated pulling. Often called golfer’s elbow.

Pain pushing up out of a chair, carrying groceries, holding a plank, or bearing weight through a flat hand.

Fingers that fall asleep at night or go numb while driving or typing, usually a nerve under pressure somewhere along the arm.

Dropping things, losing a fight with a jar lid, or running out of grip strength part way through a task.

Thumb and finger joints that ache, stiffen overnight, or no longer close into a full fist.

We treat the whole chain, not just the sore spot.

The evaluation starts where it hurts and then keeps going: grip strength, wrist and forearm motion, how the elbow tendons behave under load, nerve tension testing, and the shoulder blade and neck mechanics feeding the whole arm. We also want the exact movements that provoke it at your job, your keyboard, or your sport, because those are the loads the plan has to fix.

Treatment pairs hands-on work with loading the tissue can actually adapt to. Tendons do not heal by resting, they heal by being loaded correctly and progressively. We settle the irritation first with manual therapy and, where it fits, dry needling or shockwave therapy, then rebuild tendon and grip capacity in a sequence you can tolerate.

No referral needed to start in Texas, for up to 30 days. In most cases you can be seen within the same week.

A clear path back to a hand you can trust.

Settle the Irritation

We calm the irritated tendon or nerve and adjust the specific daily loads keeping it angry, so healing has a chance to start. Motion work begins here, not weeks from now.

Load the Tissue on Purpose

Progressive strengthening for the tendon, forearm, and grip, plus the shoulder blade and neck work that stops the far end of the arm from absorbing everything.

Return to Grip, Lift and Type

We build capacity back past what your day asks for: a full workday, a heavy carry, a racket, a tool, a keyboard. You leave knowing how to keep the load shared.
